Dynamic Hebrew/Judaica Teachers for Experiential Jewish Learning (Sunday mornings)

Join our team of talented educators in a progressive, experiential Jewish learning community. Have fun with our awesome kids from tots to teens! We are seeking teachers who love kids, love Judaism, love teaching, and are enthusiastic about creating a positive learning community in the classroom.

JOB DETAILS

  • Classes meet on Sunday mornings, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. @Garrett Park Elementary School
  • Classes may also meet online if schools are closed due to orders from MCPS, Montgomery County, or the State of Maryland
  • School year runs September – May (teacher orientations in late August)
  • Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
  • Report to our new rabbi and education director who has brought many new opportunities to our community

  • Individuals with experience teaching, tutoring, or working in a Jewish camp or youth group
  • Dependable, responsive, punctual, good communication skills
  • Staff from all gender identities, races, Jewish backgrounds (from secular to Orthodox and all in between), etc.
  • Hebrew proficiency or experience teaching Hebrew is a big plus (but not a deal breaker).
  • Prefer experience with 4th-8th graders, as well as with Zoom and other online learning platforms.
  • Musical skills a bonus, as we are also seeking a song/worship leader.

Dynamic Song Leader

We are seeking a dynamic song leader who loves kids, is adept with several types of Jewish music, supports progressive Judaism, loves teaching, and is able to effectively connect with a large group of mixed-ages from preschoolers to octogenarians. Our staff comes from all gender identities, ages, races, Jewish backgrounds and personal religious practices (from secular to Orthodox and all in between).
  • Classes meet on Sunday mornings @Garrett Park Elementary School

  • Frequency for song leader position: 1 to 2 times per month, 1 hour per session
JOB DUTIES:
  • Lead song sessions & prayers
  • Plan sessions in coordination with education director and curriculum
  • Teach basic Hebrew vocabulary as well as the spiritual meanings of the prayers
  • Be dependable, responsive, and punctual, and possess good communication skills
  • Possibly periodically teach an elective or participate in a special program (for additional pay)

Administrator/Marketing for Religious School and Clergy – Part-time – Flexible Hours

Kehila Chadasha is an inclusive, independent, and cooperative community.  We run a progressive and experiential Jewish Education program, serving tots to teens!  Our Rabbi both runs the school and fulfills other pulpit responsibilities.  We are seeking candidates to take on various administrative and marketing responsibilities so that our Rabbi and Lay Leaders can be most effective.

  • Hours approximately 7-9 hours per week, with seasonal ebb and flow
  • Salary is $20-$28/hour, commensurate with experience  
  • Report to our new Rabbi & Education Director who has brought new opportunities
  • Work whenever you wish, as long as projects are completed on time
  • Work from home or another location of your choosing
  • Position begins in August
  • Successful candidates will be able to maintain calendars, write and edit documents, manage databases, implement school registration, order supplies, create marketing content, and troubleshoot tech problems for teachers and parents with tech anxiety

  • Knowledge of Judaism, Jewish institutions and/or Hebrew a plus (but not required) 
  • Possible additional part-time positions as Youth Advisor, Teacher’s Aide, or Song Leader (if interested and qualified)
