Adult Ed — Muslim & Jewish Teachings & Experiences in Peace-building (Africa & Russia)

Sunday, December 17

Islam and Judaism both have strong teachings about peace. What we see in current political events is not grounded in these teachings, which are important to understand. Gulzeyin Khalibaeva, a Muslim originally from Kyrgyzstan, will share her identities, journey, and professional work with Veterans for Peace, working with Russian conscientious objectors. Lucy Steinitz, a Jew descended from Holocaust survivors, will discuss her work in Africa and the role of addressing trauma in building peace; Lucy works internationally with Catholic Relief Services on mental health/inner peace as a prerequisite for societal peace.
